When the Consultant becomes the Kabab Maker

The Kabab Maker in the title story is actually a Pakistani working in a restaurant in Ruwi High Street in Muscat.
He’s got quite a few admirers it seems, including Sundar who wrote:
I think I have personified Kabab Maker in two thirds of my life and cherish every moment of the same and for the rest one third will continue to be (the) Kabab Maker
Sundar is actually a very senior executive in a large corporation.  I thought ideally he should have been the one to identify with the Consultant in ‘The Kabab Maker and the Consultant’. So this comment came as a bit of a surprise. Yet I guess it points out to the universality of emotions and attitudes across social strata.
The ‘two thirds of my life’ mention is from ‘The Gift of Giving’. I liked the way he combined the metaphors from two stories. Just shows – readers can be far more creative than writers!
